Psychotherapy & Counseling Practice

My counseling and psychotherapy practice at Mount Auburn Counseling Center is conveniently located in Harvard Square, Cambridge, Massachusetts. Many of my clients are local university affiliated faculty, students, and staff. I offer assessment, consultation, short and long term counseling to individuals, couples, and families. My treatment approach is eclectic. In working with clients, I draw on over thirty years of training and experience in a number of different therapeutic perspectives specifically psychodynamic, cognitive behavioral, and relational.

I specialize in the treatment of anxiety and depression and also work with clients around couples and marital therapy issues, parenting concerns, and the navigation of difficult life transitions such as career changes, illness, relationship breakup, divorce, and the death of a parent. Many clients seek therapy to deal with self esteem issues and managing the stress of balancing work, graduate school, and family. My counseling style is focused, interactive and solution-oriented. As an adjunct to therapy, I actively encourage clients to use community resources such as health and fitness programs, AA, and career networking groups.

To better understand my therapy approach, see my review page where you can read postings on Google, Yelp, and Angie's List from actual clients. In detail, they describe our work together.

I provide consultation and/or therapy to both individuals and couples on a fee for service basis. Typically clients come in for a consultation lasting two to four sessions, yet many others continue for additional sessions of therapy depending on their goals. Because I am an Out of Network provider, I do not accept insurance directly so the client pays in full for each visit. However, most PPO insurance plans (BC/BS, Aetna, Cigna, Tufts) will directly reimburse the client a percentage of the cost of the visit at the “usual and customary” rate after the yearly deductible has been met. My billing service can submit claims for direct reimbursement to clients with an Out of Network benefit. Sometimes if a client wishes to use their In Network therapy benefit, they will choose to see me for a two to four session consultation and then I will refer them on to a therapist who is a provider of their particular insurance for therapy.

My Massachusetts Social Work License (LICSW) is #104530 and my National Provider Identifier Number (NPI) is #1598816894.
